I'm pretty sure the oscars just did a tribute to THE OSCARS. This has to be the one of the most ridiculous concepts in recent history.

ok I have no idea what their album sounds like, as I only have one song (where they sample JULIE ANDREWS), but this is my new favorite band because I mean look at this:

It's called NEWS YOU CAN USE.

ps. I'm going to listen to a lot of Annie Lennox today and see what happens.

So I had this four hour layover in Cincinnati, from Birmingham back to Vegas, and I ask a rep if I can get on an earlier flight. He says well I could if I hadn't checked baggage. Otherwise I'd be waiting three hours at the Vegas 'port for my bag. Ok, I say, so I wait out the four hours over several Outback margaritas and downloading a bunch of television shows to watch on the plane. I get to Vegas and guess what? My bag was on the earlier flight out. They let my bag have the flight but not me. AIR TRAVEL, WHAT CAN YOU DO.
Today I bought a flat screen television and got thirty percent off because it was the display model. And I got very good news in the mail that I can't get into over the internet because it's the internet and like the television commercials say ANYONE CAN SEE WHAT'S ON THE INTERNET. They assume way too much that anyone cares.
My hair is slightly shorter.

So I never found that will.i.am "Yes we can" video to be particularly inspiring or even that good, but I love this parody:

My overexercizing has struck back in the form of shin splints, I accidently told two hairdressers they could cut my hair, and I'm rolling deep in years and years of work. Good times!

I suddenly have the urge to go shopping and get my nails done.

Besides being my favorite Led Zepplin song, "Battle of Evermore" is probably the most epic song I have ever heard. The lyrics totally read like a game of D&D.

I was going to add more to this entry, but I think I'll leave it at this. I have a jillion things to do. Jillion things. Get it. Get it. Because I don't.

I have nothing to do today. Ssshhh, don't tell anyone. I finished all my jobs in the busy busy busy that was last week, and I suddenly came to a full stop this morning. Full stop like the king's period. With nothing due until the 8th. Did you guys watch the commercials on the Superbowl? Last night? I have nothing to say about it except for the ones that were obviously meant to offend everyone who watched it. I heard they were self-aware about the whole thing, but that might just be something concocted after the fact. I hate advertising, I wish I could get paid to write poetry and download movies for the rest of my life. Did I mention that I have NOTHING TO DO.

Here are the movies that I watched / downloaded this weekend:
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Sleeper
Eyes Wide Shut
Cabaret
The Panic in Needle Park

I love that Thoroughly Modern Millie is essentially a three-hour musical about a white slave trade. It was the most awesomely ridiculous thing I have ever seen, like The Great Gatsby but instead of subtext there's an acid trip. And instead of a death pool there's Carol Channing singing about raspberries. Sleeper is probably my least favorite of the Woody Allen/Diane Keaton movies, although I do like a good early 70's vision of the future. The Panic In Needle Park started off interesting enough, but then dwindled a bit towards the end. Oh, well. Oh, heroin. I only netflixed it for the Didion/Dunne factor. I haven't watched EWS or Cabaret yet, although I've seen them both before.
"Netflixed" is the "rented" of the now. MARK MY WORDS. ARE YOU MARKING THEM.
